Every year brings a collection of new tulip selections to Greenland, here are some we’re excited to plant!

Tulip ‘Rigas Barikades’

This short but stunning selection with red twisted tips and purple striped foliage is named for the barricades in Riga, where the Latvian peopled fought against Russian occupation. This is a Fosteriana Tulip. Fosteriana were developed from a wild strain of tulip found in the mountains of Central Asia. They boast the largest blooms, and are one of the first to bloom in spring.

Tulip ‘Continental’

A stark contrast to Diana, this deep purple-maroon tulip blooms mid-season. Continental is a Triumph tulip – the largest group of tulips, with a medium height and mid-spring bloom.

Tulip ‘Yellow Pomponette’

An abundance of petals is what gives this type of tulip the name Peony tulip. Bright golden yellow petals on tall stems in mid-spring.

Tulip 'Fashion'

Pretty pink petals are veined with purple, with a yellow base. This belongs to the Kaufmanniana group that originally grew wild in Turkestan, a great naturalizing tulip for your garden. Also called the waterlily tulip, as the blooms open wide into a star shape during the day, then close up at night.
